Apple just announced its new iOS version 11 and it packs damn good features. There is ton of things to mention. So, without any further due lets checkout some amazing features of iOS 11.
Features of iOS 11
Apple introduces a revamped Messages, iMessages users can now experience a redesigned app drawer for more convenient access to apps and stickers, so it’s easier to decorate messages, share a song and more. iCloud sync of iMessages accross all your devices is possible now.
ApplePay Payments with iMessage
Apple now supports peer-to-peer Apple Pay payments directly into an iMessage app with the Apple Pay Cash Card as it Apple Pay is now integrated deep into iMessages.
Siri got upgrades
As expected, machine learning finally makes it ways to Siri in iOS 11. Siri can now follow conversations and questions rather than offering single replies. New amazing translation feature just landed into Siri with support for English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish.
While this particular feature in in beta for now, the underlying thing here is that Siri is a lot more intelligent, and is capable of learning on the fly to make better improvements, provide more contextual answers to questions, and is even synced across multiple devices. As an example, it can offer word suggestions when you’re typing in context to any webpage of Apple News content you may gave been reading. Slick!
Improved Camera and Photos apps
The camera has always been a big thing for Apple, and changes have been made in iOS 11. There are significant enhancements to how photos are taken and stored with better compression techniques. While the overall image quality is being improved with iOS 11, new HEVC encoding decreases the storage size of a 4K video. There’s also more intelligent location tracking on photographs, some wonderful and emotive changes to Memories in the Photos app. Live Photos now allow you to trim the clip and even set a particular frame as the key photo, or you can set a loop as well from the photo.
Redesigned Control Center and Notification Center
Control Center offers more customization, enabling quick access to frequently used controls all on one page, and a new Lock Screen delivers a more convenient way to see Notifications all in one place. A new iOS lock screen and Notification Center are also now on same page, this means you can experience the same screen on lock screen as well as in Notification Center.
Apple Maps gets new Features and Alerts
Apple Maps now have an indoor mapping support for major malls and airports with the intention to continually build out and support more locations over time and it doesn’t stop there, when navigating the app will also alert you to lane changes, and the speed limits.
Do Not Disturb mode in CarPlay
CarPlay now features Do Not Disturb mode to prevent notifications from disturbing you while you are driving and keeping the screen of the device off. Received message can be auto respond with a message that you will read a received text message later after driving. You can customize the App to allow certain contacts to be able to get through to you even with the feature active.
iOS 11 beta 1 is available to download starting today for registered members of the Apple Developer Program. If you are on Apple Beta Software Program, you’ll get your hands on it in early July. As is always the case, the final version of iOS 11 will be made available to public sometime this fall.
