Launched in 2007, Google Street View is one of the best technology that is introduced by Google in Google Maps and Google Earth. People who use these services, must be familiar with this feature. Street View helps to get a proper view of a particular area. Lets say I want to visit a Grocery Store but don’t know how it looks like and exactly where it. So, here i will search for that grocery store in my google map to get an exact location of it but if i enable street view feature then I will be able to know about How that Grocery Store looks like in reality! This feature actually shows a pre-captured 360 degree panorama which helps you to look around a particular place easily in Google Maps and Google Earth. Currently street view is available in some of the countries but Google is introducing this feature for more and more countries every year.
To make this feature more better and to upgrade the Street View experience, Google Buy a startup known as Digisfera. Digisfera is a company, founded in January 2011. It focuses on innovating the 360-degree photography by working on design and development projects related to it.
Their remarkable projects were the panoramas of the inauguration of U.S. president Barack Obama, the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Digisfera also helps panoramic photography community by developing two incredible tools – PanoTag lets developers add tagging functionality to their apps, and Marzipano processes your panoramas and exports them as 360° images, viewable in your browser. PanoTag will be discontinued soon as the employees will work for Google Street View feature. Google will open-source Marzipano to keep it helping panoramic photography community.
